1. Anti- Cancer

It has been successfully used for metastasized cancers by some documented studies. Over acidification of the body leads to the development of chronic yeast and fungal infections and ultimately cancer. Cancer is, fundamentally, a relatively simple oxygen deficiency disease and the use of bicarbonate increases oxygen carrying and reaching capacity. Cancer cells thrive in a low-oxygen environment. The body cannot retain oxygen cells if the blood pH is highly acidic, and this is the standard condition of those with tumors who eat a diet of refined sugars, flours, caffeine and other acidic foods. Baking soda, or Sodium Bicarbonate, is a substance that neutralizes acids. One teaspoon a week will reverse an acidic blood pH, as will switching to a diet high in alkaline-producing foods. In 1983, an Italian oncologist dr. Tullio Simoncini began treating his cancer patients with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). What he discovered was that when the 5% sodium bicarbonate solution was washed over the tumors, within weeks the tumors disappeared. The patients with intestinal cancers - from the throat cancer to the stomach cancer and colon cancer could take it orally, but a catheter was needed to flush the tumor sites in other parts of the body.

They showed that oral sodium bicarbonate increased the pH of tumors and also reduced the formation of spontaneous metastases in mice with breast cancer. It also reduced the rate of lymph node involvement.

2. Anti-fungal

Baking Soda is a powerful anti-fungal and is often used in medical facilities to treat urinary tract (fungal) infections. 

3. Antacid

Bicarbonate is the universal mainstream treatment of acidosis and is used by oncologists to neutralize the heavy acid nature of their chemo agents, which are quite dangerous to the patient. It is also used routinely in many clinical situations:

    1) Severe diabetic ketoacidosis

    2) Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

    3) Pregnancy

    4) Hemodialysis

    5) Peritoneal dialysis

    6) Pharmacological toxicosis

    7) Hepatopathy

    8) Vascular surgery operations

Acid indigestion, heartburn or a sour stomach can be temporarily resolved with a solution of 1/2 tsp. of bicarbonate of soda in half a glass of water. The soda acts as a base to neutralize the irritating stomach acids. This treatment works very quickly, usually reducing discomfort in a matter of minutes. In certain illnesses, such as gout or kidney disease, the levels of acid in the bloodstream or urine can become excessively high. Bicarbonate of soda can be administered either orally as a tablet or powder or intravenously in controlled medical situations where acidosis of the body occurs.

3. Baking Soda Found To Help People with Chronic Kidney Disease

in patients taking sodium bicarbonate, the rate of decline in kidney function was similar to the normal age-related decline. In addition, those taking sodium bicarbonate also had improvement in several measures of nutrition. And, even though their levels of sodium went up, they did not experience increased blood pressure.

4. Baking Soda Boosts Athletic Performance by Alkalizing the Body

Researchers believe that baking soda increases athletes' speeds due to its well-known alkaline nature - the same nature that makes it function well as a cleaning product or antacid. Baking soda, scientists believe, prevents the buildup of the waste products of anaerobic exercise, such as lactic acid, that can lead to soreness or fatigue.

5. Mouth Care

The mildly abrasive qualities of bicarbonate of soda can be applied to oral hygiene. A past of bicarbonate of soda and water can be used as a simple toothpaste to keep teeth clean and white. For those who wish to avoid fluoride in toothpastes, bicarbonate of soda is fluoride-free. To freshen the breath, swish and spit a quick rinse of one teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda in a half a glass of water.

6. First Aid

Apply a paste of baking soda and water to take the ouch out of bug bites, bee stings, sunburns, rashes, poison ivy, or pour in bathwater for relief from the itch of chicken pox and measles. Drink 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 a glass of water to relieve acid indigestion and heartburn, or use it as a mouthwash to soothe canker sore pain.

7. Bath Soak

Bicarbonate of soda can also be used in a foot soak to soften rough calluses and skin. Adding bicarbonate of soda to a full bath will help to neutralize acids on the skin and wash away excess skin oil perspiration.

8. Hand Cleanser

Combine three parts water to one part liquid hand soap to create a scrubbing hand wash. This will power away tough grime and dirt without irritating the skin, leaving it soft and smooth.

9. Deodorant

Dust a powder of bicarbonate of soda lightly under arms to help reduce body odor. As a deodorant, bicarbonate of soda is known to absorb odors rather than covering them up, as some other deodorants do.

10. Skin Scrub and Exfoliant

A simple paste of bicarbonate of soda and water can be gently rubbed on the skin in a circular motion as an exfoliant. The fine crystals in bicarbonate of soda will remove dead cells and leave the skin feeling smooth and clean. This treatment can be used as both a body and facial scrub and is mild enough to use daily, if desired.
